A ship named as Warm Sea loaded with quality COFCO corn departed Dalian port on March 24 towards Kaohsung Port, Taiwan. The ship, expected to arrive on March 28, is the first conveying corn from the main land to Taiwan since January 2004.

As the only channel for corn export to Taiwan, COFCO attached highest importance to all links in the export from quality guarantee, shipping arrangement to linkage between ships and cargo. The quality corn and services provided by COFCO won high remarks and great gratitude from Taiwan partners.

At the end of last year, the Government announced to terminate corn export due to the intense demand shortfall in the main land. However, in order to mitigate supply shortage and lower farmers cost in Taiwan, the State Council and relevant departments overcame various difficulties and issued exclusive quota for corn export to Taiwan. The action shows that the livelihood of Taiwan farmers is always cared about by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.

The ship attracted special attention from both sides of the Straights. Department of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao of MOFCOM, COFCO Corn Division, Foodchina.com and Federation of Swine Cooperatives  in Taiwan sent representatives to the port to witness the exciting historic moment.
