On July 19-20, the Sixth Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) China Focus Day was held in Beijing. With the theme of “Leadership for Growth: Innovation, Networking & Efficiency in China”, the event is aimed to accelerate and promote the dissemination and practice of GFSI’s food safety concepts in China and contribute to the construction of a safe and healthy food ecological environment. As a member of GFSI board of directors, COFCO Corporation has organized this event for six consecutive years since 2012. COFCO Vice President Wan Zaotian attended the opening ceremony and addressed the meeting. He noted that as China’s largest food enterprise and executive agent to carry out national food safety strategy COFCO Corporation has established a food safety management system with seven modules and 17 subsystems encompassing all horizontal and vertical components to serve as a major link of food safety guarantee system while cooperating with GFSI and constantly exploring food safety management mode that suits China’s conditions as well as COFCO’s reality. What’s more, as the first Chinese food production enterprise to join the GFSI board of directors and with the backing of GFSI’s broad platform, COFCO Corporation has become a renowned and trustworthy exchange and cooperation platform in China’s food industry by actively conducting in-depth exchange and cooperation with top international enterprises, speeding up its alignment with the world’s advanced management practices, introducing international advanced concepts, technology and standards and making them applicable to China, and promoting the implementation of GFSI concepts in China. As COFCO Corporation has reaped considerable benefits from its six years of cooperation with GFSI, Mr. Wan also expected more food industry players to join the GFSI platform so as to strengthen exchange and cooperation and jointly contribute to the elevation of food safety standards. In the future, COFCO Corporation will continue as always to steadfastly fulfill its major responsibility as a large-scale food enterprise, take the lead in setting new trends for development of the industry, work together with government agencies and industry players to constantly promote the sustainable and healthy growth of food industry and provide global consumers with safe and healthy foods.
