COFCO initiated the cane sugar recycling economy project in Chongzuo, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on April 19, 2011. Top officials from the Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and COFCO attended the initiation ceremony.

The project is located in Laituan Town of Chongzuo City. The total investment is about RMB 2.06 billion. The output value is expected to reach RMB 5 billion. The annual capacity is 10,000 tons of crystalline fructose, 33,000 tons of F55 high fructose corn syrup, 1,000 tons of GMP fine sugar and 40,000 tons of organic fertilizer. It can also treat 500,000m3 of waste water a year and develop the cane agriculture. The project will introduce advanced equipment and technologies to comprehensively use local cane resources in adding value to sugar production and recycling wastes from cane processing.

Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is a major sugar producing area. Zuochong is China’s largest cane sugar production and processing base. The production is atop of China for seven consecutive years.
