On Feb 5, 2008, COFCO donated 2 million RMB to disastered Hunan, helping locals conquer the calamity unseen in 50 years. It will continue to provide grain, edible oil, meat and other living materials worth 3 million RMB soon.

The disaster was paid top attention to by CPC, governments of all levels and people all around China. COFCO companies made contribution through donations—100 thousand RMB from China Agri-Trading & Logisitics, living materials worth 100 thousand RMB from COFCO-Coco Cola (Hunan) and 210 thousand RMB from COFCO-Aviva Insurance respectively, 300 thousand RMB from Beijing staff led by Chairman Frank Ning and more is coming. All the efforts show COFCO, as a mainstay state-owned enterprise, is taking its social responsibility and promoting Chinese traditional virtue of helping the needy.

COFCO Committee of CPC has called on organizations within CPC, CCYL and Work Union system to take quick action and organize their members to work together and offer help.
