The 2004-2005 List of the Top 500 Foreign-invested Chinese Enterprises was announced November 30, 2005. The five COFCO companies on the list were East Sea Oil & Grain Industries (Zhangjiagang), Ltd. (66), Great Ocean Oil & Grain Industries (Fangchenggang), Ltd. (227), Beijing COFCO International, Ltd. (390), North Sea Oil & Grain Industries (Tianjin), Ltd. (400) and Yellow Sea Oil & Grain Industries (Shandong), Ltd. (415).
The 2004-2005 List of the Top 500 Foreign-invested Chinese Enterprises was compiled based on sales figures for 2004 as reported on the unified annual inspection reports of foreign-invested enterprises.
The joint annual inspection was begun in 1997 as a joint project of the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Finance, General Administration of Customs, State Administration of Taxation, State Administration for Industry and Commerce and State Administration of Foreign Exchange of the P. R. China with the voluntary participation of included enterprises.
