COFCO International was announced a winner of the 3rd edition of the Prêmio ESG.
Luiz Noto, CEO of COFCO International Brazil G&O collected the award at a ceremony in São Paulo on June 16.
Promoted by the Brazilian ESG Association (ABESG), the award recognised CIL in the "ESG Integration in the Supply Chain" category for the results achieved through the COFCO International Responsible Agriculture Standard (COFCO Standard), a certification program aimed at promoting more sustainable, traceable agriculture aligned with global demands for socio-environmental responsibility.
“This award recognizes our dedication to transforming agribusiness. COFCO Standard is important for connecting rural producers to global demands with transparency, reinforcing that we are on the right track for the future of responsible and low-impact agriculture,” highlights Luiz Noto, CEO for COFCO International G&O in Brazil.
Developed by COFCO International, the programme certifies sustainable production based on rigorous criteria related to traceability, environmental protection, legal compliance, and respect for human rights.
The programme is based on audits conducted at participating farms for socio-environmental compliance and governance. The requirements include production free from deforestation and conversion of native areas, sustainable water management, biodiversity conservation, and the promotion of working conditions aligned with human rights and the sector's best practices.
In addition to contributing to a more sustainable agricultural production, the program generates opportunities for participating producers, expanding access to international markets that require high standards of traceability and socio-environmental responsibility. Recognised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), COFCO Standard can also facilitate access to financing and credit lines aimed at sustainable practices.
The certification integrates COFCO International's global strategy to strengthen sustainable supply chains and meet the growing international demand for responsibly produced commodities.
This year, the company carried out the first shipment of soy certified by the COFCO Standard from Brazil to Bangladesh, expanding the program's presence in strategic markets in Asia and reinforcing the role of sustainability as a competitive differential for Brazilian agribusiness.
